Are you a diver? Then you’re performing a form of exercise — hopefully not only underwater — since we owe it to ourselves to make exercise part of our daily life.

Let’s break down some points in diving that you’ve surely noticed and how supplements can help you!

CRAMPS!

Every diver has experienced this annoying situation at least once in their diving journey.

Reasons? Ooooh… I could write pages:
– a tight wetsuit
– intense finning
– dehydration
– and so on and so on

How do we solve this, Uncle Stelios? I hear you shouting…

➡️ 1st dive supplement – MAGNESIUM

It relaxes the muscles, so the day before — and after — diving, it’s good to use a magnesium supplement.

➡️ 2nd dive supplement – ELECTROLYTES

Surely at DIVENESS during your courses, some instructor has talked to you about hydration…

  • Lower chance of cramps, since a dehydrated muscle is more likely to spasm.
  • Also, equalization becomes easier (hydrated tissues, muscles and membranes = more elasticity = easier equalization).

One electrolyte on the day of your dive, or even more depending on your needs — you can use it before and after diving.

There are many brands to choose from; it’s not a medication, so you can use it regularly.

How does it help?

  • Reduces mucus buildup in the nose
    → which leads to better equalization

Add it to your daily routine, especially during allergy seasons or colds, and you’ll remember me!

➡️ 4th dive supplement – VITAMIN C

Smart people prepare before they get hungry — you surely know the saying!

  • By boosting your immune system, you reduce the chance of catching a cold
    → which means lower chances of nasal congestion
    → and being restricted from diving for a while

Recommended dose: 1000 mg of Vitamin C per day and you’ll be sailing like a prince.

➡️ 5th dive supplement – PROTEIN BARS

You don’t need to be a gym person to eat them!

  • You’re going for back-to-back dives, and diving is a sport/hobby that burns calories whether you like it or not.
  • After the first dive, before the second one… your stomach hits your back.
    What will you eat then? Stuffed vegetables?!
    A PROTEIN BAR is the answer!

It reduces hunger and gives you the energy you need without feeling bloated.
Pick your favorites and keep them with you as a snack before, after, or between dives.

All of the above, my dear hydro-buddy, are suggestions that can help you enjoy your beloved activity even more.

However, every diver is different, which means each one has different needs.
See what works best for you — more or less — so you can make this already wonderful activity unbeatable!


And the most important thing…

Regardless of supplements, diving has certain physical demands.
So:

  • take care of your body
  • exercise
  • eat well

The better your physical condition, the greater your enjoyment after every dive!
