February 2014 was not simply the month when DIVENESS was founded; it marked the beginning of a shared and exciting life journey that now spans twelve full years. From that very first day, when my dear friends, Giannis and Angeliki, turned their vision into reality by establishing the dive center, I had the honor and responsibility of standing by their side on the front line. As a scuba diving and First Aid instructor, I took on a broad and demanding role from the very beginning, helping them build a close-knit community of people who love the sea and deeply value safety.
From the very beginning, back in 2014, my journey and professional growth within the dive center never involved a waiting period or gradual transition. The challenge was significant, as from the very first day I undertook the training of divers across all levels.
A special place in my heart throughout all these years belongs to beginners — people who had never even worn a dive mask before and came to the dive center to discover an entirely new world. Through the PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) program, I had the joy of guiding hundreds of people by the hand, helping them overcome their initial hesitation, and introducing them to the magic of their very first breath underwater in complete safety.
At the same time, my role included certifying students through the PADI Open Water Diver course, guiding advanced divers through demanding techniques and specialty programs — such as deep diving and night diving — as well as preparing future PADI Divemasters through intensive professional-level training.
This constant transition — from a beginner’s very first DSD experience to the professional development of a Divemaster — is what ultimately shaped my growth and evolution as an instructor.
Diving is synonymous with enjoyment and adventure, but safety remains its non-negotiable foundation. Alongside underwater training at every level, I was also responsible from the very beginning for the First Aid training sector.
Throughout these twelve years, I certified dozens of divers — and non-divers alike — to recognize risks, manage emergency situations, and provide effective assistance. The moment when a PADI Rescue Diver student successfully combines an underwater rescue scenario with performing CPR on land remains the greatest validation of my work.
As the years passed, the vision evolved dramatically. With the transformation of DIVENESS into a PADI 5 Star IDC Eco Center and the addition of a private swimming pool, the training opportunities we were able to offer reached an entirely new level.
My own journey remained closely connected to this high standard of education and services, delivering comprehensive training programs tailored to the individual needs of every diver who walked through the doors of the dive center.
Through a continuous path of growth based on the most modern international standards, and through initiatives such as Dive Against Debris, we train our divers to actively protect the ecosystems of the Saronic Gulf.
Today, looking back on this journey that began in February 2014, what truly remains is not simply the thousands of hours spent beneath the surface of the water or the hundreds of certifications we signed. It is the people and the lifelong relationships that were created along the way.
Life and responsibilities bring changes, and although I am no longer as closely involved in the day-to-day operation of the dive center, DIVENESS will always remain my diving home. John and Angeliki are far more than colleagues to me; they are dear friends, companions on this journey, and family.
I want them — both John and Angeliki, as well as our entire diving family — to know that I am, and always will be, there for them, ready to offer my knowledge, experience, and passion for diving whenever I am needed. I feel deeply proud of everything we built together, and I sincerely hope that DIVENESS will continue to fill the world with safe divers and beautiful bubbles.
